Welcome to ICANN79 | San Juan Community Forum. This six-day meeting will be focused on outreach, capacity building, and showcasing ICANN’s work to a broader global audience. This meeting is hosted by nic.pr.
ICANN79 will be held 02 - 07 March 2024 at Centro de Convenciones de Puerto Rico.

San Juan Airport [SJU]
Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marin (SJU) is the International airport for San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Transportation
Taxis and rideshare services are available for transportation from Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marin.Taxis
Metered taxis come in a range of models. Taxis are white and identifiable with a yellow “garita” logo and a “Taxi Turístico” label on the door. Fixed rates are provided between the airport and most destinations; see below. Metered rate will apply for areas between and beyond tourist zones. Taxis are cash-only and accept only United States Dollars (USD). Credit and debit cards are not typically accepted. Pay taxi fare to driver and receipts are provided upon request.
Fixed Rates are provided for official taxis from the airport to destinations:
- Zone 2: Isla Verde - Base price $12 USD
- Zone 3: Ocean Park, Condado (AC Marriott, La Concha, Marriott San Juan), Miramar, Santurce - Base price $17 USD
- Zone 4: Only Old San Juan and Piers - Base price $21 USD
- Zone 5: Convention Center, Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Isla Grande Airport, Sheraton Convention Center - Base price $17 USD.
Applicable Add-on Rates:
- $1 USD - Luggage charge will apply to each additional item.
- $0 USD – Accessories for disabled person are free of charge.
- $2 USD – Extra charge for 6th-7th passenger.
- $1 USD – Late night change (10pm-6am AST)
- $3 USD – Airport fee
*Metered rates will apply for areas between and beyond tourist areas
** Cost per trip, not per person, however there are additional fees for additional guests, as listed above.

Taxi Booth Locations:
- Main Station: Arrival level at Terminal A for Terminal A passengers.
- Arrival level at Terminal B, outside of Baggage Claim areas of Terminals B & C.

Ride-Share Services:
Uber operates and is available in San Juan. Other similar services, such as Lyft, do not have operations in San Juan at this time.
Private Car Service
The alternative mode of transportation between San Juan Airport and your hotel is a pre-booked, private car service through ICANN's contracted Destination Management Company (DMC), Destination Puerto Rico. While taxis and Ride Shares are readily available at the airport, should you wish to confirm a private transfer, this can be arranged for you at the following rates:

*These are Daytime rates – a 25% surcharge applies for transfers between 7pm and 7am. These rates include driver meet and greet at airport and private transfer. All credit cards are accepted. Gratuities are suggested but not included in the rates.
Private Car Service Terms and Conditions:
1. Cancellation requests must be sent via email to icann79@destinationpuertorico.com, at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled service. Cancellation requests received with less than 48 hours notice will be charged the full price of the transfer service, at the DMC's discretion.
2. Please email icann79@destinationpuertorico.com with any changes to your flight arrival or departure itineraries (including flight delays) in a timely manner. If you fail to show for your original scheduled arrival flight or departure transfer without prior notification, you will be charged for the full price of the scheduled service.
3. Additional terms and conditions may apply. You will be informed of these upon booking.

Official Hotels
ICANN negotiates group rates for all official hotels to provide affordable housing options for attendees. Room blocks and rates are subject to availability and booking deadlines. In the event that ICANN room blocks are sold out, any remaining rooms will be sold at market rates set by the hotel. We also work closely with our local partners supporting the event to develop and implement comprehensive event safety plans and procedures for a safe, healthy and productive meeting.
