ICANN68 To Be Held Virtually

Due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), ICANN68 will no longer be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Instead, the Policy Forum in June will be held virtually.

Please note that by joining the virtual meeting, you will be submitting your personal information to join the sessions on Zoom. Your personal information will be processed in accordance with the ICANN Privacy Policy. When you join the session, you agree to abide by the ICANN electronic Terms of Service.

Remote Participation Tool: Zoom

All public sessions during the ICANN Meeting will have a Zoom Meeting 'virtual room' link posted in the schedule.

With Zoom's built-in collaboration tools, multiple participants can share their screens simultaneously and co-annotate for a more interactive meeting. Anyone can speak using computer audio and participants that raise their hand first are displayed at the top for fair and efficient management of input into the session.

Two ICANN staff members, known as a Remote Participation Managers, will be assigned to each virtual room to facilitate questions in the chat room and manage speakers in the queue.

In order to ensure that the maximum numbers of remote participants are able to have their views expressed in a session, please be aware of the following:

  • To ask a question in the virtual room, each participant must state their name and affiliation for the record/transcript.
  • In the Chat pod in the Zoom Meeting session, you will be asked to use these symbols < > around your question. This will distinguish your question or comment from the other chats happening throughout the session.

Standards of Behavior

Please be advised that all participants are subject to the Community Anti-Harassment Policy and the Expected Standards of Behavior which is documented in the Accountability and Transparency Frameworks and Principles adopted by the Board of ICANN on 6th May 2012 and revised on 26 June 2016.

All participants who behave in a manner that is clearly in breach of these standards may be removed from the virtual room without warning, depending upon the seriousness of the breach, as perceived by those staff attending the session.

If you are excluded or asked to desist in making certain comments and believe the treatment you received was unreasonable, you are entitled to ask the Ombudsman of ICANN to review the matter. You may find more information about the Ombudsman at http://www.icann.org/ombudsman/.
