Overview:
Privacy session:
NCSG will host a session on privacy and human rights at ICANN. The purpose of this session is to bring stakeholders up to date on the following key areas of work at ICANN:
- the ongoing work of WHOIS, and the Issues report whose comment period closed September 8
- the final report of the PPSAI, and the complex privacy issues which emerged from the comment period which closed in the summer
- the WHOIS conflicts with law procedure, and the recommendations of the volunteer working group who met to attempt to improve implementation
- the issue of privacy in the context of human rights, and the emerging work of the Human Rights Cross Community Working Party
We have assembled a panel of experts to brief on these issues, and then we will open the floor for a debate on how ICANN can move forward to improve its respect for privacy through these and other initiatives
