TRANSPORTATION - GENERAL INFORMATION

MARRAKECH MENARA AIRPORT

Airport Code: RAK

Marrakech Menara Airport, in French Aéroport de Marrakech Ménara, is the main international gateway in Marrakech, the main city of the Marrakech-Tensift-El-Haouz region in Morocco. It is located at 5 kilometers from Marrakech city centre. The airport is an important hub between Europe and Northern Africa. Marrakech Airport is the main hub of Royal Air Maroc and served by European low-cost carriers.

Marrakech Airport is composed of three passenger terminals:

  • Terminal 1: A brand new terminal, recently renewed and one of the most beautiful airport terminals in the world. Hosts both international and regional flights.

  • Terminal 2: Located under the same roof as Terminal 1, hosts international and domestic flights as well.

  • Terminal 3: Marrakech Airport Terminal 3 is located into a separate building. It was inaugurated in 2016 and is three levels.

Marrakech’s Menara airport is located only ten kilometers from the city center, and 15km from the meeting venue, Palmeraie Hotel and Resort (approx. travel time: 25 min).

Transportation from Airport

There is a taxi rank outside the terminal with plenty of drivers touting for business (journey time: 15-20 minutes). Agree on a price (around Dh100) before setting off (a sign outside the terminal will show how much passengers should pay).

Please note that most of taxis do not accept credit card payments. Cash machines and exchange offices are available in the arrivals hall.

There are two types of taxis in Morocco; the petit taxis and grand taxis. The petit taxis are personal transport, for you and up to three other passengers and a reasonable amount of luggage. These tend to be small hatchbacks. The grand taxis are meant to be shared and are priced accordingly. If you want one for yourself, you will have to pay for the additional non-occupied seats. The grand taxis are usually Mercedes sedan style cars.

All taxis in Marrakech have taximeters. Before you get in make sure they switch the taximeter on, if they refuse, just find another taxi. If not, you can always negotiate the price of the journey with the chauffeur before the engine starts running.

Private Car Service:

The alternative mode of transportation between Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) and your hotel is a pre-booked, private car service through ICANN's contracted Destination Management Company (DMC).

For private car service bookings through ICANN's preferred DMC, email icann65@menara-tours.com

Make sure you confirm final costs, cancellation policies, and the terms and conditions before booking.

Pricing:

Standard Sedan (up to 2 people): 250 MAD One Way
• VAT is included in the rate.

Luxury Sedan (up to 2 people): 700 MAD One Way
• VAT is included in the rate.

Van (up to 6 people): 650 MAD One Way
• VAT is included in the rate.

All major credit cards ( MasterCard, VISA, American Express ) are accepted. A surcharge of 2.5% to be added as bank charge on the total amount for credit card payments.
